Ray Borg has been pulled from his upcoming fight with long time contender Joseph Benavidez, scheduled to take place at UFC Denver. Due to ‘medical issues‘, this marks yet another occasion of bad luck for the former Flyweight Challenger.
Ray was withdrawn from his first scheduled bout with Demetrious Johnson due to illness at UFC 215, but would soon after face Johnson at UFC 216 when he was defeated via submission. A few months later, after Conor McGregor’s famous bus incident. Ray was injured during the chaos and his bout with Brandon Moreno was cancelled.
Borg has also been dealing with his first born child’s current battle with brain cancer. This has been a very public and difficult time for Ray and his family. Many fans worldwide have united in an attempt to help the family with funds for surgeries etc, and have been incredibly supportive during this tough process.
The bout will be completely scrapped, with no attempt to find a replacement opponent for Benavidez.
