After the recent report from ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, sources confirmed that a fight between Anthony Pettis and Justin Gaethje is in the works for an event targeted in early 2019.
In a tremendous match up for the incredibly stacked Lightweight Division, Pettis will want to return to winning ways once again. After submitting Michael Chiesa earlier on this year, Pettis has struggled to put together a win streak since losing his belt to RDA. With every UFC win being followed by a loss.
After his Fight of The Night with Tony Ferguson at UFC 229 ended in defeat. Pettis had multiple moments of brilliance during the fight and almost finished El Cucuy before having to withdraw due to injury. Fan’s had flashbacks of the Anthony Pettis of old, and are excited to see how the next year will unfold for the former Champion.
Since Justin Gaethje signed with the UFC, he has gone 2-2. With wins over Michael Johnson and James Vick. And defeats to Dustin Poirier, and former UFC Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez. Gaethje has displayed his incredibly high paced aggressive style of fighting since making his debut. And has become a favourite amongst fans worldwide for his action packed fights and gritty performances.
Gaethje is feeling very confident after his latest bout with James Vick ended in an impressive first round knockout at UFC Nebraska. This fight could prove to be yet another high paced brawl between two exciting Lightweights.
