The suspensions of three men involved in the now-infamous brawl following Khabib Nurmagomedov’s first title defense against Conor McGregor at UFC 229 have been extended, while they wait for further judgement to come. The Nevada Athletic Commission met on Wednesday to discuss what action to take regarding the brawl. It was decided that that Dillon Danis, Zubaira Tukhugov, and Abubakar Nurmagomedov will all face extensions on suspensions they are currently under, while they await a further disciplinary hearing, set to be held at a future meet up of the Nevada Athletic Commission in either December or January.
The men in question are all associated with current UFC 155lbs champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and Former two-weight champ Conor McGregor, who were also involved in the frenzy that came shortly after their bout. Khabib and Conor also faced extensions on their own impermanent suspensions last month. The two men expect to receive further judgement at the next Nevada Athletic Commission meeting on December 10th.
Not one of Danis, Tukhugov or Nurmagomedov were present at the meeting on Wednesday. Two more men associated with “The Eagle” Rizvan Magomedov and Esedulla Emiragaev, who were both discussed by the Commission, also failed to appear at the hearing. Both of the two men also had their part to play in the post—fight melee, with Magomedov trading verbal barbs with Dillon Danis after the fight was over, before entering the Octagon when McGregor began to fight back against fellow members of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s team. Magomedov was one of the individuals taken into custody by Las Vegas Metro police. Emiragaev was seen throwing a punch that landed on Conor McGregor. The two cases of Rizyan Magomedov and Esedulla Emiragaev were not spoken about at the meeting.
Danis was one of the key figures in the melee following the UFC 229 main-event. After Khabib submitted McGregor via neck crank in the fourth round, the champ at 155lbs vaulted the wall of the Octagon to come face-to-face with Danis, who was one of McGregor’s cornermen for the bout, instigating a violent clash that caused a number of associates of both men become physically involved. Numerous eye-witnesses have stated that they heard Danis shouting anti-Muslim taunts Khabib Nurmagomedov, who is proudly Islamic. Dillon Danis has since strongly refuted these claims.
One of the individuals involved from Khabib’s side, Zubaira Tukhugov, has already had to face some of the consequences for his involvement in the brawl. He was pulled from a matchup against Artem Lobov, long-time training partner and close friend of McGregor, at UFC Moncton. Once UFC 229 was over and everything had calmed down, president of the organisation Dana White made it very clear that everyone who was involved in the post-fight chaos would be let go from the UFC. Currently, Zubaira Tukhugov remains a member of the UFC’s featherweight division.
