PFL Season 1 was a massive success! The implementation of the old school tournament format was deemed a risky venture at first, but PFL took it and along the way transformed it into one of the most gripping and exciting concepts in the world of Mixed Martial Arts. Appealing for fans as they feel that gritty return to the roots of the sport, even more appealing for the fighters whom if they win the championship in their respected division will win $1 Million.
Announcing there return earlier this year via there ESPN deal, we have all been sat anxiously wondering who will make the cut for the second season? The first season drew worldwide interest so the second season should be just as fancied, especially now there partnered with ESPN, allowing access to wider audiences. Taking to Twitter on Thursday, PFL finally gave us the news we had been waiting for.. Round 1 of 3 roster announcements.
Five of the Season 1 Champions will return for Season 2, in a bid to defend there titles. Heavyweight champion Philipe Lins, Welterweight champion Magomed Magomedkerimov, Lightweight champion Natan Schulte, and Featherweight champion Lance Palmer and Middleweight Champion Louis Taylor returns this year at Welterweight as there will be no Middleweight bracket. Kayla Harrison will also feature in the female Lightweight division which was announced previously on “Ariel and The Bad Guy”.
Other names that were also announced on Thursday were Ray Cooper III, Rashid Magomedov, Steven Siler and Vinny Magalhaes.
Further roster reveals have been announced to take place on March 18th and April 1st, with the female Lightweight roster expected to be announced on March 8th.
