Paulie Malignaggi has inked a deal with Bare Knuckle FC. At the age of 38, the former Boxing World Champion is expected to drop the gloves and make his debut for the promotion in the summer of this year. As first reported by Helen Yee, Paulie could end up facing Artem Lobov, if the Russian is able to defeat former UFC colleague Jason Knight when he makes his debut in the forthcoming months.
After all the drama surrounding the controversial sparring footage involving Conor McGregor in the lead up to the Floyd fight. Paulie has often stated his desires to fight again, and frequently blasted McGregor at any given opportunity. He went on to call for his own boxing bout with the Irishman after the May/Mac event. Although no fight actually materialised, it seems like Paulie may finally get his wish of fighting at least somebody from Team McGregor. Even if it is not Conor himself.
Artem Lobov has blasted Paulie during interviews on numerous occasions, and also backed up the claims that McGregor did in fact get the better of the former boxer in that infamous sparring session. Which Paulie obviously still denies. Although we never did get to see that full sparring session that was constantly discussed.
How do you think Paulie takes to Bare Knuckle Fighting? Can the former world champion drop the gloves and pick up some wins inside his new promotion? Let me know your opinions!
