It’s the breathe of fresh air we needed, former UFC Featherweight champion Jose Aldo has been released from hospital in Rio de Janeiro following a bacterial infection which saw him admitted earlier this week.
The admission to hospital happened early last week, due to a bacterial infection which stemmed from a cut to Aldo’s knee. At the time his head coach Andre Pederneiras, stated that the injury shouldn’t get in the way of Jose Aldo’s preparations for Alexander Volkanovski to much.
First reported by Brazilian outlet Combate, Jose was released from Samaritano Hospital on Sunday morning and should be back to training in a few days. Head coach Pederneiras also confirmed the news we had all hoped to hear.. The fight with Volkanovski at UFC 237 IS STILL ON.
Jose Aldo is currently on a 2 fight win streak with back to back TKO victories over Renato Moicano and Jeremy Stephens. He only has 2 fights left on his current UFC contract so we’re all anxiously waiting to see if he will retire upon his final fight, however a victory over impressive Volkanovski might sway him to potentially stick around and see what other opportunities arise!
