Artem Lobov and Jason Knight are set to ‘toe the line’ and ‘knuckle up’ for the first time in the main event for Saturday’s fifth Bare Knuckle FC event. The two former UFC featherweights were both cut from the UFC in 2018 after each succumbing to a series of consecutive losses. It will be the BKFC debut for both ‘The Russian Hammer’ and ‘The Kid’.

After losing to Cub Swanson, Andre Fili and Michael Johnson by unanimous decision, the UFC released Lobov from their roster. The former TUF semi-finalist left the company with an MMA record of 13 wins and 15 losses. In an interview with The Mac Life posted on YouTube, the man in which fans mocking hail as the GOAT revealed he had an extra stipulation which he has imposed on the main event fight. When asked about a possible bet, Artem answered, “I told him, I said look ‘if you manage to get out of the first round, I’m going to buy you drinks all night’ but you know he probably won’t get out of the first round but I’ll still buy him a drink you know, no problem.” Seemingly quite confident, Jason ‘The Kid’ Knight will not be an easy match up for Artem ‘The Russian Hammer’ Lobov.

Standing in the way of the 13-15 teammate of ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor, is Mississippi local Jason Knight. After four successful fights, beating high level opponent Dan ‘The Hangman’ Hooker and also Alex ‘Bruce LeeRoy’ Caceres, Knight lost four consecutive fights leading to his release from the UFC. With an impressive MMA record of 26 wins and just 6 losses, ‘The Kid’ is set to make his bare knuckle boxing debut on April 6th. Because of the event being held in Biloxi, Mississippi, Jason Knight will be a strong crowd favorite for the battle.

Fighting in the co-main event is another former UFC fighter, Chris ‘The Crippler’ Leben. It will be Chris’s second bare knuckle fight and second fight with the BFKC. He knocked out Phil Baroni just over a minute into the first round with the WBKFF promotion. His opponent, ‘Raw Deal’ Justin Baesman is on an 11 fight losing streak, which will set an interesting scene for Saturdays fight. Check out our detailed report on Chris Leben and his journey back to combat sport, here.

After making a successful MMA comeback with Island Fights after his own UFC release, Chase ‘The Vanilla Gorilla’ Sherman has signed up for his BKFC debut. His opponent, Sam Shewmaker, has been apart of most of the BKFC events since its legalisation was approved in 2018. The two heavyweights both throw their punches with massive powers, and the fight is sure to be one to go down in bare knuckle boxing history.
