Ben Askren returns to wrestling against Jordan Burroughs

Ben Askren is scheduled to face Jorge Masvidal at UFC 239, but before that, he returns to his roots as he wrestles Jordan Burroughs at Grapple In The Garden.

The event is put together by Beat The Streets who are a grass roots wrestling programme. The event will be a fundraising event so it is understandable why the UFC has allowed such a move.

Ben Askren is undefeated in his MMA career, having conquered ONE Championship and Bellator’s 170lb divisions, he is solely focused on doing the same within the UFC. Askren won in his UFC debut against Robbie Lawler via a controversial submission in the first round.

Jordan Burroughs will be Askren’s opponent. A highly decorated wrestler, going undefeated in 2009 and 2011 NCAA Championships and winning Gold in the 2012 London Olympics, he is a definite challenge for ”Mr.Funky”.

The bout will be contested at 74kg and will take place at Madison Square Garden on May 6th.
