Conor McGregor has yet again seen another short lived ‘retirement’ as he plans to meet with UFC President Dana White in ”2 weeks”.
Per MMA Junkie, after the press conference on Friday night, Dana participated in an interview session with reporters. In the session he was asked if Conor McGregor would be returning to the octagon this year, to which White responded, ”I’m meeting with Conor in Miami in two weeks”.
He also confirmed to MMA Junkie that the winner of Holloway and Poirier at UFC 236 will be the next in line for the title shot. ”These guys are the interim champions, they’re fighting to fight Khabib”.
The above is welcoming news as many believe McGregor is pushing for a rematch with champion Khabib. The Irish and Dagestani stars engaged in a war of words on Twitter leading Dana White himself to intervene.
Presumably the meeting will take place around the same time as UFC Fort Lauderdale. Originally McGregor was rumoured to face Donald Cerrone, but negotiations broke down.
