Augusto Sakai: DC retiring would be ”good for the division”

UFC heavyweight Augusto Sakai, may just find himself on the updated heavyweight rankings, after picking up a close split decision victory over Andrei Arlovski at UFC Sunrise.

Speaking with MMA Fighting before his victory, Sakai gave his thoughts on division champion Daniel Cormier and why it would be good for the division if the champion retired:

”I saw that they might book him against Brock Lesnar and then he might retire, and that will be good for the division. There will be another title fight, things will start to move in the division, so it will be easier for me to dream about that title shot.”

Daniel Cormier has been rumoured to fight Brock Lesnar for little over a year now. Dana White however recently downplayed the potential fight and said a rematch between Cormier and Stipe Miocic is looking more likely.

With his second UFC win under his belt, its just a matter of consistency as we wait to see if Augusto Sakai can cut it in the deep end of the worlds hardest hitting division.
