Darrion Caldwell seeks revenge as he welcomes RIZIN’s bantamweight champion Kyoji Horiguchi to Bellator, in the promotions second venture to Madison Square Garden.
That’s right, Kyoji Horiguchi will be challenging Caldwell for his Bellator bantamweight title, after he defeated Caldwell at RIZIN’s New Years show for the inaugural RIZIN bantamweight title.
A contest in which Caldwell was submitted in the third round via a guillotine choke. Since then Horiguchi most recently defeated Ben Nguyen at RIZIN 15 via first round TKO in a non title match and Caldwell is yet to compete.
ESPN were the first to confirm the news and report that if Horiguchi was to defeat Darrion Caldwell, then he would be contractually obligated to defend said title, atleast once a year.
Bellator 222 will take place at Madison Square Garden in New York on June 14th. The card will be headlined by a Light Heavyweight bout between Chael Sonnen and Lyoto Machida.
