Lyoto Machida says he wants to be a double champion in Bellator.

In an interview with MMAFighting‘s SBNATION, former UFC light-heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida expressed his desire to become Bellator’s third champion, a recent craze among MMA fighters.

Lyoto Machida, 40, is currently scheduled to take on Chael Sonnen at Madison Square Garden at Bellator 222. The fight will take place at 205lbs.

When asked if a fight with Bellator light-heavyweight champion Ryan Bader was on the cards, ‘The Dragon’ responded, “Hey, I would love to fight Ryan Bader. Now he’s the heavyweight champ as well. He’s huge. He has grown a lot in his game, and his game plan. I know his coach. I believe that’s a fight that everybody wants to see.”

When asked about winning two belts, Machida replied, smiling, “That’s the goal, man. Champ against champ. So, who knows? I have victories over both of them (Mousasi and Bader) and you never know what’s gonna happen in the future. I think that makes a lot sense.”

MMA fans were quick to dismiss Machida on social media. One MMA fan said, “(He’s) getting too old I think.” Another said, “(He) hasn’t a hope.”
