ONE announces three title fights for its 100th show in Tokyo

ONE Championship will be heading to Tokyo in October for its second event in the Japanese capital and its 100th show in all. As the Singaporean organisation tightens its grip on the Asian market and continues to make inroads into Japan, ONE has once again gone all-out for this Tokyo show. In a press conference yesterday, CEO Chatri Sityodtong announced three title fights will take place in the event.

First up is a clash of the titans, as current ONE middleweight and light-heavyweight champion Aung La N Sang will defend his light-heavyweight title against current heavyweight Champion Brandon Vera. The Truth will have the chance to become a champ-champ himself in a battle between two of the biggest names in the organisation.

In a rematch of their fight in the first Tokyo show, current ONE atom weight champion will defend her belt against strawweight champion Jingnan Xiong. Back in March, Lee had the chance to become a double champion as she challenged Xiong for her strawweight title. Lee lost via 5th round TKO after an incredible fight, the first defeat of her career. Now, in the rematch Xiong gets the chance to gain champ-champ status. This time, it is Lee’s atomweight title on the line.

The third title fight announced is in the bantamweight division. Champion Bibiano Fernandes faces Kevin Belingon for the fourth time in the ONE Championship cage. After three fights, Fernandes has two wins to Belingon’s one. Their last fight, which also took place in Tokyo, ended controversially. Belingon lost his title after illegal elbows to the back of the head resulted in his disqualification. Fernandes was not happy in the way it ended, and is looking for a chance to win in a “better” way.

In addition to these fights, the finals of the ONE Lightweight, ONE Flyweight and ONE Flyweight Kickboxing grands prix will all take place on this card. ONE Championship has signed deals with both Shooto and Pancrase. As part of that there will be several fights which pit Shooto fighters against Pancrase fighters under the ONE banner.
