Paulo Costa picked up the biggest win of his life on this Saturday, when he became the only person other than Robert Whittaker to beat Yoel Romero in the UFC. ‘Borrachinha‘ made it clear to the MMA community that he wanted a shot at the middleweight title, following his victory at UFC 241. UFC president Dana White said that Costa – presumably – would be next in line & would even buy Costa a plane ticket to Melbourne, where divisional champions Robert Whittaker & Israel Adesanya will unify their belts.
Costa – who jumped to #2 in the UFC’s official middleweight rankings – did not remain silent after the fight. When the Brazilian was asked about fighting the winner of October’s unification bout, ‘Borrachinha‘ was not afraid to speak his mind.
“I think that both are looking to me… scared, because both guys know now they have a very, very tough guy looking for them,” said ‘The Eraser‘. “I think Whittaker will beat Adesanya, but I beat Romero. To me, Romero won against Robert Whittaker. But if Adesanya wins & takes the belt? Man, I can kill that guy!”
“He’s very skinny, he doesn’t have a chance against me,” he concluded. “It’s personal with Adesanya. I think he will be defeated.”
