Max Holloway is back… and the UFC’s final pay-per-view of 2019 just got a whole lot bigger.
After months of speculation about a possible title defense at UFC 243, featherweight champion Max Holloway will return for a show in the bright lights of Las Vegas on December 14th. Standing opposite him on the night will be none-other than Aussie contender Alexander ‘The Great‘ Volkanovski.
News source KUMITE TV initially reported the fight’s happening. Their claims were then verified by Telegraph Sport and MMAFighting‘s Damon Martin.
The Hawaiian champion is coming off of a stellar title defense against Frankie Edgar in July of this year. While his overall win-streak was snapped by Dustin Poirier, Holloway is still the owner of a 14-fight unbeaten-run at 145lbs.
This fight will be Volkanovski’s first attempt to claim a UFC title. He holds an outstanding record of 21-1 & has already beaten some of the divisions biggest names – José Aldo and Chad Mendes, to name two.
UFC 245 will be co-headlined by a bantamweight title fight, when double-champion Amanda Nunes looks to prove that her 2013 win over Germaine de Randamie wasn’t a fluke – this time, however, for the title.
