While it seems that lightweights Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor will always be butting heads, their heated rivalry has made MMA headlines once again.
October 6th marked the one year anniversary of the now-historic lightweight title bout. The Irish megastar celebrated this occasion with a tweet, claiming that he wanted a rematch to take place in Moscow, Russia. See what he had to say below:
Those remarks were met with an overwhelmingly negative response.
The Dagestani champ, 31, was quoted as saying that he would accept an apology from the Irishman, but wouldn’t shake his hand.
“I’m not ready to shake [McGregor’s] hand right now. I’m not. You know, everyone makes mistakes. There are no perfect people; everyone has flaws,” said Nurmagomedov. “I have flaws and so does he.”
The Russian contiuned, “When a person continues to behave that way, it means that it’s his nature. He recently seen him hit a man. So, I’m not ready to shake his hand until he realises something [is wrong with that].”
Right now, the lightweight champion is looking to book a fight with top-contender Tony Ferguson.
McGregor is scheduled to appear in a Dublin court, this coming Friday. It is in relation to the now-famous ‘old man incident‘. The former champion could face up to 6 months in prison, should he be convicted.
