Conor McGregor calls for UFC to make Frankie Edgar charity bout in December

The UFC’s first champ-champ seems set on a return to the Octagon. His opponent? A legend with more than 5 title bouts to his name.

The Irish lightweight made it clear that he is interested in taking on MMA veteran Frankie ‘The Answer‘ Edgar. Both fighters were at the top of the featherweight division in 2015, and were expected to clash for the title in mid-2016. McGregor’s bouts at 155lbs and 170lbs prevented them for ever meeting.

Following his loss to Max Holloway at UFC 240, Edgar announced his move to the bantamweight division. Now, however, it seems that he has put those plans on hold and could possibly be returning to his first home – lightweight.

Fans were intrigued by the fact McGregor said that we would donate his fight-purse to charity.

Presumably, – if head-honcho Dana White is interested in making the bout – it would feature on the UFC 245 pay-per-view card. Knowing the combined star-power of both fighters, it would (controversially) headline the event, despite it having 3 world title fights.
